Last updated on 12th jANUARY 2010 IMPORTANT GAME RULES - FIRST BALL CONTACT You can double any first ball (inculuding serves)  as long as you don’t use any finger action on the ball. I have checked this with an AVP referee this winter.-Oguz- - LINES If the court’s line has been moved during the game by the players by mistake and the ball (hit) lands close to the line, then the referee corrects the line first and then checks the ball mark to decide if the hit is in or out. - HAND SET RULE A poor handset is judged by three rules: First, if the ball enters your hands at different times. Second if the ball leaves your hands at different times. Third, if the ball has rested on your hands and caused the ball to be carried. A spin is not nesesarily an indication of a poor set. Traditionally, judgment of setting is tighter on the beach but each year the move is to let players have more latitude with hand sets. A legal hand set over the net must be perpendicular to your body. - NEW POINT SYSTEM FOR TRIANGLEBVB AND CHARLOTTE TOURNAMENTS - Points from Cary and Charlotte tournaments will be combined for the rankings on our web site. - Points gained from a tournament will depend on the total number of players participated in that tournament. We will multiply the total number of teams by 2 to calculate the points of the champions and then deduct 2 points to get second place’s points, then deduct 3 points out of second place’s points to find out third places’ points and this will go on untill 0 points, and then the rest of the teams will get 1 point for attending. - After 10 total tournaments, top 3 players will get bonus money prizes and a cup or medals. (they will be announced as NC’s Best Players in 2010) In order to run the double elimination tourments faster: - Stretch and pepper be- fore you get on the court for your match. Only hit- ting and serving warm- ups are allowed on the court. - Ref the next match if u lose your match, - Let the tournament director know if you sign- ed up but won’t be able to come, - Keep up with the brac- ket to know when&where you’re playing, - Let the tournament director know about the result of the match that you refereed.   DATE: Feb. 20th PLACE:Greenhope Courts >>address-map<< DIVISIONS: WO & MO ENTRY FEE: $ 25 DEADLINE:Feb. 19th FORMAT: TBA WOMEN’S OPEN 1.
